Our Story

Storm Apparel was initially born out of the need for a creative outlet, but soon took on a life of its own. It became a movement to inspire others to pro-actively do ‘tough stuff’ in easy times to build up resilience.

Why? Because we believe peoples lives have become so easy and comfortable that they no longer grow as a human. They buckle when life’s challenges knock on their door, which inevitably they will.

Today’s kids are most at risk at falling into the ‘comfortable trap’. As parents, we need to lead by example in stepping outside our comfort zone on a regular basis.

Being uncomfortable and growing your mindset doesn’t always have to be physical challenge, but they tend to work best. Being uncomfortable for me has come in the form of corporate & career challenges, moving house overseas with a young family, Martial Arts progression and Ultra events for charities to give back.

So long as the task or event stretches you outside your comfort zone and you feel a sense of being uncomfortable, that’s when magic happens!

Why Bowel Cancer?

Bowel Cancer is the Silent Killer. It’s on the rise globally with a new increased risk to younger people below 50 years of age.

This Silent Killer can reside in your body between 5 - 10 years undetected before any symptoms show. By then, it could be stage 4 and potentially too late. That’s what happened in my family.

My mum had just celebrated her 70th birthday with us in Australia and looked the picture of health. Two months later she took ill with suspected gall stones. Post MRI, this turned out to be Stage 4 Bowel Cancer and within six weeks of diagnosis, she sadly passed away.

This was by far my biggest life storm and was such a shock and fast! I still deal with the pain on a regular basis, but I strongly believe that due to my build up of resilience over years in easier times, I was much better equipped to deal with a storm of this size.

My mission from here is to help spread the word two fold. Firstly about the risks surrounding Bowel Cancer and what proactive measures you can take. Secondly to inspire the masses to build their resilience in preparation for any of life’s storms. Make no mistake….they will come.
